Early lessons

Early lessons become lifelong habits.

So much of who your dog will become takes shape in their first months. How they handle new people and places, whether the world feels safe or scary, the habits that will feel normal to them for life: all of it starts forming early, purposefully or by accident. What they take in now tends to leave a lifelong impression, and behavior gets harder to change as they grow. Get this stretch right and everything afterward comes easier. Leave it to chance and you may spend years working back from it.

Here's the honest part: Puppies are a lot. In just a few months you're meant to cover potty training, crate training, impulse control, leash skills, bite control, socialization, and settling calmly when life gets busy. That's a mountain of learning packed into a short stretch of time, and the moment you go looking for help you hit a wall of advice that all contradicts itself. Generic advice treats every puppy the same and rarely fits yours. What your puppy actually needs is clarity and consistency: one clear, proven approach, applied the same way every time, and someone in your corner who knows how to guide you both through it.

Not yet a puppy parent?

Still choosing a puppy?

The dog you pick shapes your daily life for the next decade or more. Breed is a big part of that. A dog bred to herd, guard, or run all day comes wired with instincts and energy that need the right outlet, and a mismatch between those needs and your lifestyle is one of the hardest things to train your way out of. The good news is that the right fit makes everything downstream easier, and finding it is very doable when you know what to look for.

That's what we're here for, before you ever bring a puppy home. We'll help you think through your lifestyle, your household, and what you're hoping for in a dog, then point you toward the breeds and traits that genuinely fit. Our goal is simple: help you start with the right dog for your family, so you and your future puppy are set up to thrive from day one.

It starts with the same free intro call, a no-pressure conversation about what would truly fit your life.

The curriculum

What we help your puppy learn.

Every puppy is different, and no two need exactly the same things. These are the building blocks we help your puppy master, shaped around who they are and what your family needs.

  • Focus and foundation cues

Name recognition, paying attention to you, and the basics like sit, down, and stay that everything else builds on.

  • Potty training

A clean house and a reliable routine. Fewer accidents, clearer communication about when and where to go.

  • Crate training

The crate as a safe, cozy den rather than a punishment. Calm rest, easier travel, and a foundation for time alone.

  • Bite inhibition

Teaching those needle teeth to stay off skin. Gentle play, softer mouths, and giving things up when asked.

  • Socialization

Meeting new people, dogs, sounds, surfaces, and places with confidence. Building positive associations early, so the world feels safe instead of scary.

  • Handling and body comfort

Being touched, held, and examined without stress. Easier vet visits, grooming, nail trims, and ear checks for life.

  • Impulse control

The self-control that heads off counter-surfing, jumping on guests, snatching food, and bolting through doors. Learning to wait politely for the good stuff.

  • Settle and independence

Relaxing when the house gets busy, and staying calm and content when left alone.

  • Leash skills

A loose leash and no more getting dragged down the block. A walk you both actually look forward to.

  • Recall

A puppy who comes running when you call. The safety skill that earns them more freedom as they grow.

The process

How it works.

  1. Start with a free intro call. We'll talk about your puppy, or the one you're hoping to bring home, and what you want out of these early months. You'll get a feel for how we work, and we'll map out the right way forward together. No pressure, no cost. Book your free intro call here.

  2. Choose your package. From there, you pick the package that fits your goals. Every package is private, one-on-one coaching in your home, run once a week, so the training happens in the real environment where your puppy lives and learns.

    Happy Tail

    4 Weeks

    $480

    Wagging Along

    8 Weeks

    $900

    The Full Wag

    12 Weeks

    $1,300

Every four lessons includes a free Zoom check-in, to use between sessions whenever a question comes up that can't wait.

  3. Grow together, one week at a time. We coach you through it in your home, building the skills and confidence your puppy needs and working through whatever comes up as they grow. You come away knowing exactly how to raise the dog you're hoping for.

Give them the best start

Give them the start every great dog deserves.

These early months are your chance to shape a puppy you're proud of, and to build the bond that makes all of it worth it. We'll be there for the whole journey, so you can trade the second-guessing for the simple joy of growing together.
